Collective Architecture has submitted planning for West of Scotland Housing Association (WSHA) to create 89 affordable homes at the former Diageo Distillery Site at Dundashill, Glasgow.

The homes will be built to Passivhaus standard and will feature a mix of mid-market and social rented homes.

This will be the first development on the site which is owned and promoted by Scottish Canals.

Andrew Kubksi, Director of Development and Asset Management at WSHA, highlighted: “We are really excited by the stunning design of the development. This has been well received by Glasgow Urban Design Panel and has been approved by Scottish Canal's board so we are now able to make our way to a full application with the city's planning authority. We continue to work closely with Glasgow City Council's Housing investment Team to turn these plans into affordable housing and have been greatly encouraged by their ongoing support.”

Rupert Daly of Collective Architecture added: “It has been a pleasure working with WSHA, the design team and stakeholders on this development within the aspirational Masterplan set by Igloo Regeneration and Scottish Canals. The client’s brief to meet the Passivhaus Standard not only ensures the highest standards in energy efficiency and comfort for tenants, but has also been a defining factor, offering the design team and client the opportunity to challenge convention in all aspects of the design. Working with erz, the landscape design provides a range of different high quality external spaces for residents and integrates sustainable design features such as raingardens into the scheme. The site will become an extension to the city’s green network connecting into and enhancing the wider Dundashill masterplan access strategy.”
