Building Performance Evaluation (BPE) is often associated with the completion stage of building projects, as a means of assessing energy efficiency or evidencing key project outcomes against the original design intent. However, BPE can be applied to all stages of a project to inform project development, enhance delivery and optimise performance. In the case of retrofit, implementation of an energy survey of the existing building fabric, will help inform the strategy from the outset.
It is essential to consider our current building stock in relation to net zero targets given 80% of the buildings which will be in use in 2050 already exist.
We utilise the Passivhaus Planning Package (PHPP) as a basis for assessing building performance; further validated by onsite verification monitoring and data collection.
